Course Description:

Description: This course covers best practices for surgery scheduling including counseling pre op patients, understanding common ophthalmic surgeries so that the counselor can educate the patient, premium lens options, managing the surgery schedule and keeping the patients on track to complete all pre-op testing so their surgery proceeds as scheduled.

Learning Objectives:

1.  Explain the role of a surgery counselor and surgery scheduler.

2.  List the duties that a surgery scheduler is responsible for.

3.  Explain the importance of double checks to ensure that the right side, site, patient, and procedure is done and correct IOL power is communicated to the surgery center to prevent medical errors.
