MEET MANDY CANSLER, COMT, COE, OSC

Mandy began her career in ophthalmology career in 1999.

Her passions include clinical training as well as mentoring ophthalmic leaders.

After obtaining her COA in 2000, she has worked in various ophthalmic sub-specialties including retina, oculoplastics, peds, refractive, and glaucoma. She has served patients in the clinic as a work-up tech, lead clinician, surgical assist, and surgery scheduler. These experiences allowed her to understand the patient's experience from the beginning of the encounter to the postoperative outcome.

Mandy transitioned into leadership in 2012. In 2014, Mandy attained her COT, followed by her COE in 2021, and her OSC and COMT in 2022. She served as a Chief Clinical Officer where she operationally oversaw the clinical department, contact lens department, and surgery scheduling teams at a large practice in North Carolina for twenty-four years.

Mandy Cansler is an Ophthalmic Consultant for Eye Tech Training, based in Port Orange, Florida. She is a visionary leadership strategist and keynote speaker at regional and national conferences. She holds certifications as an Ophthalmic Medical Technologist, Ophthalmic Scribe, and Ophthalmic Executive. Mandy previously served as the Chief Clinical Officer and oversaw the clinical department, contact lens department, and surgery scheduling at a large practice in Hickory, NC. Over her 24-year career in ophthalmology, she has gained extensive experience in clinical training, organizational development, leadership development, and operational planning. Mandy is the author of a blog titled Visionary Edge Leadership, where she regularly shares articles addressing practical, everyday challenges faced by leaders."

Mandy is an active member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA) and Ophthalmic World Leaders (OWL). She currently serves on the Administrators Beginner's Circle through the ASOA to mentor new leaders in ophthalmology.

She conducts many of our online courses, including training in administrative and call center skills and clinical skills. She is passionate about her journey as a leader and strives to positively influence others.
